Have you Tried to Count the Stars Lately?

Have you tried to count the stars lately? God knows exactly how many there are.

Have you ever tried to count the stars?

There are so many it is impossible. But it’s not impossible for God. He knows exactly how many there are and calls each by name! He not only knows how many stars are in the sky, but also how many grains of sand are on the beach. He even knows how many hairs are on your head. He knows everything about you.

You can’t hide anything from God.

He knows your past, He knows your future, and He knows exactly where you are right now. He cares about you, He loves you, and He wants to help you. Talk to Him and tell him what you need. He already knows but He wants you to ask.

When our daughter was just a toddler learning to talk she would point to her sippy cup when she wanted a drink.

When our daughter was just a toddler learning to talk she would point to her sippy cup when she wanted a drink. This was fine at first, but we had to teach her to use her words to express what she wanted. We knew what she wanted, but if we just gave it to her without teaching her to talk we were not doing her any good. It was our job as parents to teach her how to express herself with words. Next, it came out in mumbled “dink, Momma, dink”, but we continued to work with her until it became “drink” and eventually she would ask, “Can I have a drink?”.

When we talk to God it doesn’t have to sound pretty.

It doesn’t have to be all proper. We can even mumble and He will understand. After all, He does know our heart and He knows what we need. The most important thing is that you talk – use your words. Tell Him how you feel, what you think, and ask Him to help you and fill every need. Do’t be ashamed of your prayers. The Bible says to come boldly before the throne (Hebrews 4:16) and we have not because we ask not (James 4:3). The more you converse with him, the more comfortable you will become in communicating with your heavenly father.

Just like you would teach a toddler to ask for a drink instead of just point. He wants you to use your words to talk to Him. He is there waiting to listen.

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart… ~Jeremiah 1:5
