Join Me on My Book Publishing Journey!

From reading my monthly newsletter to viewing my blog posts and following me on social media, by now you know I love the word of God and enjoy encouraging others. So, it makes since to write a book of devotions. Well, it is actually happening in 2018! I haven't shared this with very many people because I was scared it would fail and I was doubting myself. But now that I have officially signed a contract it is time to share that IT IS HAPPENING!

Book Inspiration

Several years ago, while getting ready for bed, I believe God gave me the idea for a book. I had recently written a devotion for our Women's Ministry newsletter. It was titled, "I shall not be moved", referenced verse Jeremiah 17:8, and included a photo that I had taken of a tree planted by the water.

As I stood there, I thought, maybe I could do this with other pictures and create a devotional gift book! I was not a professional photographer by no means, but I did enjoy taking pictures. I thought it was a clever idea but would anyone else want to read it?

The first person I told was my husband. He was supportive from the very beginning. He encouraged me, helped me stay on track, and took crazy detours when we went on a trip, just so I could take one more picture. I worked on the book on and off for several years. Then I just stopped. Was I crazy? Was I wasting my time? I knew nothing about publishing a book and definitely didn't have any money to invest in getting it done.

My encouraging moment was when I shared it with a dear friend who I respected very much. She owned a book store and her daughter was an author, so books were something she knew. When I finally got the nerve up to show it to her, she agreed to take it home and give me her suggestions. She was my first editor and the first, other than family, who had even read it. She gave me the confidence I needed to pursue publishing.

What is The Book About?

When I tell someone, I am publishing a book, the first thing they ask is, "what is it about?" Well, it's not really a story. It is a devotional style book that includes a photograph, scripture, and encouraging words for each devotion.

When Will the Book Come Out?

The original goal was to be available by Easter 2018. We just entered step 2 of 3: Production and Design. If this section goes smoothly it is possible that we will meet that goal!
